Preparing for Prime Day and the Great Indian Festival: A Seller Checklist
Amazon India's biggest sale events – Prime Day and the Great Indian Festival around Diwali – can bring weeks of normal sales in a few days. Sellers who prepare early win; sellers who do not often go out of stock, miss dispatch deadlines or burn their ad budget in hours.
6–8 weeks before
- Pick your hero products from the last 90 days of data.
- Order or produce stock – plan for several times normal daily sales on peak days.
- Send FBA stock early; inbound slots fill up before big events.
- Fix listings: images, size charts, A+ content, keywords.
- Submit deals (Lightning Deals, Best Deals) when nominations open in Seller Central.
2–3 weeks before
- Set coupons and price drops within your margin plan.
- Build up review count on hero products.
- Increase ad budgets gradually so campaigns have recent data.
- Prepare packing material and label rolls; test your printer.
During the event
Check budgets several times a day – a campaign capped at noon misses peak evening traffic. Watch stock levels hourly on hero products and pause ads before you run out. Keep dispatch on time; event days count toward account health like any other.
For Easy Ship and Self Ship sellers, batch label printing and an SKU-sorted picklist make the difference. The Amazon label crop handles hundreds of labels in seconds.
After the event
Review what sold, at what price and ad cost. Many shoppers who discovered you during the sale return later – keep ads running at a moderate level and restock quickly.
Choosing hero products
Pick products with good ratings (ideally above four stars), enough reviews, healthy margins and reliable supply. A deal on a product with weak reviews brings clicks but few conversions. Hero products should be ones you can restock quickly if they sell out.
Deal pricing without losing money
Calculate the deal price from your floor price, not from your current price. Include the deal fee if any, extra ad spend and higher return rates during sales. A deal that sells many units at a loss only helps if it clearly builds rank and reviews you can monetise later.
Operations plan for peak days
- Extra packers on standby and a clear packing station layout.
- Label rolls, polybags, boxes and tape for at least twice the expected volume.
- A printer backup or spare print head.
- Labels cropped and sorted by SKU in batches through the day.
- Courier pickup times confirmed in advance.
Building early momentum
Products that sell steadily in the weeks before an event usually rank better during it. Raise ads and coupons gradually two to three weeks ahead rather than all at once on the first day.
