Flipkart Seller Fees and Commission in 2026: Zero Commission on Fashion Explained

Updated 27 October 2026 · 4 min read · By the LabelCroppers team

Flipkart's fees decide your margin, and 2026 changed them significantly for fashion sellers. This guide explains each fee type, what the zero-commission policy covers, and how to calculate your real payout.

Rates change often; confirm the exact numbers in the rate card inside Flipkart Seller Hub before you price.

Fee types on Flipkart

  • Commission – a percentage of the selling price, set by category and price band.
  • Fixed fee – a flat amount per order.
  • Collection fee – for processing prepaid and COD payments.
  • Shipping fee – based on weight, size and distance (local, zonal, national).
  • Reverse shipping / return fee – when products are returned.
  • GST on Flipkart's fees, generally claimable as input credit by registered sellers.

The zero-commission policy

Flipkart first introduced zero commission on products priced under ₹1,000. In July 2026 it removed the price cap for fashion, making all fashion products commission-free irrespective of price – a change Flipkart said benefits around 90,000 sellers. Flipkart had also extended zero commission to all products on Shopsy, its value platform. Reports did not say that other fees disappear, so plan for fixed, collection and shipping charges unless your rate card says otherwise.

Calculating your payout

  • Selling price (including GST) minus output GST = taxable value.
  • Minus commission (zero for eligible fashion), fixed fee, collection fee and shipping fee, plus GST on those fees.
  • Minus product, packaging and label cost.
  • Minus an allowance for returns and ads.

The settlement report in Seller Hub shows the actual deductions per order – compare it with your calculation every cycle.

Why shipping and returns matter more now

With commission at zero for fashion, shipping and returns become the biggest platform costs. Lighter packaging, accurate size charts and fewer wrong-item shipments now have a bigger effect on profit than before.

Price bands and fee slabs

Some fees change at price thresholds. Check whether moving a price slightly (₹1,049 to ₹999, for example) changes your fee slab in non-fashion categories, and test what it does to conversion.

Payments and settlement cycle

Flipkart settles payments to your bank account after delivery according to its payment cycle; your seller tier can affect payment terms. Track settlements against orders, and raise tickets for missing payments or wrong weight charges promptly.

Reducing fees legitimately

  • Keep packed weight and volume low.
  • Reduce returns with better sizing and images.
  • Use FBF for fast movers if it lowers total cost per order.
  • Reconcile weight disputes – incorrect weight slabs are a common overcharge.

A worked example for a fashion seller

Take a women's cotton kurta sold at ₹899. Under the July 2026 policy, fashion products pay zero commission. The seller still sees a fixed fee, a collection fee and a shipping fee for the weight and zone (plus GST on those fees) in the order's settlement. If the product costs ₹320 and packaging ₹15, and you expect a meaningful share of orders to be returned, your profit depends far more on shipping weight and return rate than on commission. Model several return-rate scenarios before deciding how much of the commission saving to pass on as a lower price.

What to watch in the rate card

  • Which of your categories count as fashion for zero commission.
  • Fixed fee by price band.
  • Shipping fee slabs by weight and zone (local, zonal, national).
  • Return/reverse shipping charges.
  • Any category-specific or program fees.

Rate cards are updated periodically. Download the current version each quarter and update your profit sheet.

Common fee mistakes

  • Entering lower product weight than actual – leads to weight disputes and adjustments.
  • Ignoring reverse shipping in fashion margins.
  • Assuming zero commission means zero fees.
  • Not reconciling settlements, so wrong charges go unnoticed.

Checklist

  • Current rate card downloaded
  • Fashion SKUs checked for zero commission
  • Per-SKU profit sheet updated
  • Weight and dimensions verified
  • Settlement reconciled each cycle
