Seasonal Planning for Kids' Brands on FirstCry

Updated 27 October 2026 · 3 min read · By the LabelCroppers team

Kids' product demand follows clear seasons. Launching at the right time drives sales; launching late leaves stock unsold.

Key seasons

  • Summer: cotton basics, sleeveless, shorts.
  • Monsoon: quick-dry, rainwear.
  • Winter: sweaters, thermals, jackets.
  • Festive: ethnic wear and party wear.
  • Back to school: bags, shoes, basics.
  • Birthday and party wear year-round.

Timing

List seasonal ranges several weeks before demand peaks so they are live and visible when parents start shopping.

Stock

Use last season's data per age size; children grow, so plan across the size curve.

Building a seasonal calendar

Map each month to the products parents buy: summer basics before summer, rainwear before monsoon, festive wear before major festivals, winter wear before winter, school items before school reopening. Work backwards to set production and listing dates.

Size curve by season

Children grow between seasons. Plan winter stock by the ages you expect parents to buy for then, not by last summer's sizes.

Clearing end-of-season stock

Use end-of-season offers and sets to clear stock before the next season starts.

Back-to-school and birthdays

School reopening drives demand for basics, shoes and bags, while birthday and party wear sells all year with peaks around festivals. Keep a steady party-wear range and plan school basics a couple of months ahead.

Coordinating production

Work back from the date you want products live: listing and approval time, inbound or stock readiness, production time and fabric procurement. Seasonal success is mostly a planning exercise.

Using last year's data

Review last year's sales by week for each category to see when demand started rising. Aim to have products live a few weeks before that point this year.

A sample annual calendar

  • Jan–Feb: summer range production.
  • Mar–Apr: summer range live; school basics planning.
  • May–Jun: back-to-school; monsoon range.
  • Jul–Aug: festive range production.
  • Sep–Oct: festive range live.
  • Oct–Nov: winter range live.
  • Dec: party and holiday wear; plan next summer.

Adjust to your regions and categories.
